Gutsey Ambassadors: Tina and Harmony Picz-Devoe, mother/daughter team

Carrie Forbes ambassador

Where were you born? Where do you live now?

We live in Cambridge, MA. I (Tina) was born in Hampton, Virginia. My daughter Harmony (age 9) was born in New Port Richey, Florida.

Tell us a little about yourself, your hobbies, things you love.

Nine year old Harmony is a rock climber and adventurer who loves reading and writing poetry about nature and human rights activism. She also loves to come up with healthy recipes and make smoothies! I (Tina) am a photographer, writer, singer, nature-lover, mother and holistic living enthusiast.

Tell us about any accomplishments you have received over the years and/or goals you are trying to achieve.

Harmony has won a Cambridge poetry award for best of 3rd grade for her poem about racism and equality, and continues to write works that inspire her generation to stand up for their values and make a difference.

I have been a freelance writer and food photographer in Boston for 4 years, shooting for restaurants and local brands. I have also had my holistic focused writing published in several publications and have been able to help non-profits tell their stories and spread their impact.

Why do you think you live a GutseyLife?

We live a GutseyLife by making daily efforts to live more sustainably and share knowledge of holistic, healthy living, encouraging others to spend time outdoors in order to appreciate and preserve our precious wildlife and wild places.

How do you want to help/inspire others?

We hope to inspire other families to get in touch with nature more often, which also aids in boosting mental and physical health, as well as family bonding time, and allows us to more clearly see our place in the delicate balance of biodiversity. The more we explore, the more we realize how interconnected we are with every living thing on this planet.
